There are simple things you can do to protect your home while you are away. First, keep your travel plans off of social media. Instead, tell a trusted neighbor that you are going out of town and ask them to do a few things for you. Have them pick up your mail, turn lights on and off at appropriate times, and draw the curtains at nightfall. Be sure all doors and windows are locked, including the garage doors. Have good outdoor lighting to make your house less attractive to a break-in. Motion sensor lights are an excellent tool as well.
