A ruling by the Massachusetts high court decision stating that citizens could not own a stun gun was recently overturned by the Supreme Court. Massachusetts is one of the few remaining states that only allow police officers to carry the device. The court’s main argument for upholding the ban was that they were not in use during the writing of the Constitution. This was overruled by the Supreme Court because they stated that we must recognize the need for an update in technology. This lead to the exoneration of a woman who was accused of illegally carrying a stun gun.
